I've got about 3 weeks experience in this game and I'm =trying= to get background on it. My assigned mentor doesn't respond to messages (I've gotten one answer in several attempts, and nothing for weeks now). I've given up on her. Yet getting background info is not an easy task for English speakers.

As to the current issue...

In the middle of the night, a player attacked my home planet and knocked out my entire fleet. He messaged me afterward that he'd noticed my FAS seems to have not worked at all. I asked him where I should look for an actual game guide or other background info so that I can fix the problem; he replied that there's a wealth of background but it's in Russian.

How should I resolve? FAS showed as ON for my fleet, the fleet was at my home planet at the time of the attack, and I have a level 8 hangar. What am I missing?? My attacker's impression was that FAS wasn't working at all since my fleet evidently did not take refuge in the hangar.

Ironic, yes, that I get more guidance from a player that attacked and destroyed my fleet that I ever got from the mentor ;-)?

BTW, I'm perfectly happy to study on my own and self-educate if I could find sufficiently comprehensive online material. In English.

Well, you can always find an alliance that speacks english (they have lot´s of information and you will grow and have fun with a team) and also change your mentor...

About the FAS, maybe it didn´t cover the entire fleet. You have the mode:"FAS enabled" and the mode:FAS civil fleet (besides the mode of disabled FAS of corse)a

Ok, thanks. How does one get a list of (English speaking) alliances that accept new players?? Is there any downside? I wonder how many xcraft players are in an alliance now (10%? 50%? 90%? A guess?).

You can check what fleet is in FAS by clicking on the word FAS from your planet details tab on the left side.
United Nations (U.N.) have English speaking as requirement.

Build a hanger. As stated above, ensure the FAS is on turned on. Alternatively, you can spend the Hadrian crystal on an officer, and that will automatically apply it with or without the hanger that is normally Required. LEGION, the alliance I belong to is primarily English speaking. We do have members that speak other languages as well.

So, how many fighters can I fit into the hanger? One per level, two, more? Is there a hidden list showing the numeric values so I can fighure out what can hide in the hanger, or is it a useless facility that gives you an impression of being important? Just to fight the pirates hanging around, I need between 1k to 5k fighters. With that small amout of fighters, will all those fit in the hanger? (asking for a friend)

One level of Hangar can cover 80 points of fleet. A Fighter is valued at 1.3 points, meaning each level of Hangar can cover ~60 Fighters. For 1000 Fighters one would need level 16+ Hangar, without accounting for other ships like cargo and recyclers. You can see details at FAS page, accessible from Overview.



Relying strictly on Hangars may work for 1k, but with larger fleet it would be not feasible. On that level, it is better to start investing in defense to protect fleet and resources, or develop a habit of “saving” them manually when you leave the game for several hours or more.
