A biomechanical vessel that creates conditions for a special kind of bacteria to live. When exposed to psi-fields, these bacteria absorb impurities from Vespene gas at a rate unavailable to normal extractor organs, thus enriching the gas faster. When placed in an extractor, it increases its production by 10%.
Due to its limited throughput, the relative efficiency of the microbiome drops as extraction volumes increase. To maintain maximum efficiency, an additional microbiome must be added for each extractor level above level 30. Microbiomes also lose efficiency dramatically if gas sources are depleted.
Once per hour, an active microbiome has a 0.125% probability of self-destruction.
